Pushkin - Djembe drums

Primary 5 were delighted to have Ronan McKee, a professional drummer, come to school to teach them how to play the djembe drums.  These are African drums on which you can make 3 sounds ;  Base - using the palm of your hand, Tone - using cupped fingers at the edge and Slap - using the edge of the drum to create a brighter sound. The children learned a Senegal Dance which is performed to pass love on to those who are sick.  A fantastic time was had by all!  This was part of the Pushkin Programme which encourages creativity.  The theme this year is, 'Reforestation of the Imagination.'
