Netball Success 🏀 The P6 and P7 girls had a fantastic day out today at the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Netball tournament. The girls showed excellent teamwork, determination and sportsmanship throughout the day. They narrowly missed out on the final due to goal difference so ended up finishing in 3rd place. Well done to all the team!!

🐠⚓️Deep-Sea Diving - Scientists at Work!🔍🚤 P4 have been participating in a range of scientific investigations as part of their Deep-Sea Diving topic. Today, the children used treacle, syrup, vegetable oil, fairy liquid, water and food colouring to show the five layers of the ocean in a bottle (Sunlight Zone, Twilight Zone, Midnight Zone, Abyss and the Trenches). 🌊🌊🌊 This proved to be a very enjoyable experiment even though there were a few oceans that accidentally exited the bottles. Through this experiment, the children were able to explore the concept of density and identify substances that are more/less dense than water.💦 🛢️🧴 The children also investigated and compared how both fish and humans breathe. The children created their own fish skeletons and then proceeded to design an experiment that shows how gills function. The children used coffee to show oxygen molecules and dishcloths to represent the gills, which resulted in the gills absorbing the oxygen and releasing the waste water and gas (carbon dioxide).🐠🫁 Super scientific problem-solving, P4!👏👏👏

What a truly outstanding day we had today at the inaugural Malachy Mahon Girls’ Tournament! 🌞 The sun shone brightly over St Molaise Park as teams gathered from Fermanagh, Armagh and Tyrone to take part in this year’s competition. From the first whistle to the final kick, the standard of football on display was nothing short of sensational. Just as impressive was the sportsmanship and respect shown by every school throughout the day, a real credit to all involved. In the Shield competition, St Ninnidh’s Derrylin contested a thrilling final against St. Paul’s B. In a game where no quarter was given, Derrylin edged it to claim the Shield title. Huge congratulations to Derrylin, and commiserations to our St Paul’s girls who were exceptional throughout the day and played a huge part in such a memorable final. The Cup Final saw St John’s Middletown face Tummery PS in what was a truly outstanding spectacle and a fitting finale to the day. Both teams brought incredible quality to the occasion, with Middletown showcasing their slick teamwork, intelligent play and clinical finishing, while Tummery girls matched them with tremendous heart, work rate and determination. The game was played at a relentless pace, with scores hard-earned and every ball fiercely contested. The standard of football was exceptional throughout, with both sides contributing to a game that had the crowd fully engaged from start to finish. In the end, Middletown just had enough to edge a gripping encounter, but huge credit must go to both teams for producing a final of such high quality and intensity. A number of thanks are due to make a day like this possible. Sincere thanks to all the girls who took part, and to the staff and relatives from each school for their support and commitment. Special thanks to Miss Keane for coordinating the event. We are very grateful to the Irvinestown St Molaise GAA Club for the use of their outstanding facilities and all their hard work behind the scenes. Crochet Club has been extended for another 2 weeks. The girls have renamed it Crochet and Chat Club! What a lovely way to spend a Friday afternoon; relaxing, chatting with friends and learning a craft. Well done girls on all your creations😊😊😊

🏟️ A busy day of sport for our pupils! Our boys’ football team competed brilliantly today at the Sandra Kelly Cup in Loughmacrory, reaching the quarter final stage and showing great determination in a tournament of a very high standard. A big thank you to St Teresa’s PS, Loughmacrory for their warm welcome and for hosting an excellent day of football. ⚽ Meanwhile, our P5/6 boys’ soccer team proudly represented the school at the F&WSFA Soccer Tournament in the Bawnacre, putting in a fantastic performance on the pitch.
